LARGE MANUFACTURING PLANT IN PAW PAW MI IS LOOKING FOR A STRONG FACILITIES MECHANIC. MORE THAN LIKELY WILL WORK ON NIGHT SHIFT 7PM-7AM.
THIS IS ALSO A UNION PLANT.
PAY RATE: $33.84
Shift differential of an additional $.75 – 3pm-11pm & $1.50 – 11pm-7am
Facilities Maintenance Mechanic
Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of facility equipment, utilities, and support systems within a manufacturing environment.
This position requires strong facilities maintenance experience with exposure to ammonia refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, welding, machine tools, and water/wastewater systems preferred.
Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive and proactive maintenance on facility and utility systems.

Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment to minimize manufacturing downtime.

Use root cause analysis to identify equipment failures and recurring problems.

Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using voltmeters and other testing equipment.

Test repaired equipment to verify proper and safe operation.

Inspect machinery and facility equipment for operational and safety compliance.

Perform equipment installations, repairs, and facility improvement projects.

Complete required maintenance documentation and work orders.

Work with Production and other departments to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime.

Support facility food safety and food quality programs.

Respond to utility and ammonia-related alarms as required.

Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance standards.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of industrial facilities maintenance experience required.
-
Experience with ammonia refrigeration strongly preferred.
-
Experience with plumbing, electrical, welding, and machine tools preferred.

Experience with water and wastewater treatment systems preferred.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Ability to work flexible hours and holidays when required.

Candidates must complete a Mechanical Skills Ramsay Assessment as part of the hiring process.
Ammonia & Utility Requirements

Must be able to wear a respirator and respond to ammonia alarms.

Must complete Ammonia Operator Level 1 training within 6 months of starting.

Must complete Ammonia Operator Level 2 training within 18 months.
-
Training through Garden City Ammonia Program or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
-
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
-
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on concrete surfaces.
-
Must be able to kneel, bend, crouch, reach, climb, and stoop throughout the shift.
-
Ability to work on catwalks, ladders, lifts, and multiple elevations.
-
Must be comfortable working in extreme temperatures and industrial environments.
