MON-FRI 7AM-5PM
EVERY 6TH WEEK YOU WORK MON-SUN AND DURING OUTAGES YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BE AT THE SITE
SALARY: $100K-$130K + 12% TARGET BONUS
Electrical Superintendent
Position Summary
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for leading the reliability, maintenance, programming, and improvement of the plant’s electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
This position provides technical leadership for PLC/HMI programming, MV/LV electrical equipment, instrumentation, motor controls, automation, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements while supervising Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians within a cement manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance and reliability of plant electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
- Supervise and provide technical direction to Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians.
- Support MV/LV transformers, switchgear, MCCs, motors, grounding systems, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and related equipment.
- Program, troubleshoot, modify, and upgrade PLC and HMI systems.
- Troubleshoot ControlLogix, Modicon, VFDs, AC/DC motors, electrical controls, and instrumentation.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major electrical, controls, and automation failures.
- Identify and correct chronic equipment and reliability issues.
- Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Lead electrical and automation projects involving design, installation, commissioning, start-up, and performance improvements.
- Coordinate maintenance and inspection activities with electricians, technicians, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Analyze equipment history and failure data to improve plant reliability.
- Participate in maintenance budgeting and control electrical and automation maintenance costs.
- Ensure electrical systems comply with applicable regulatory requirements, codes, and industrial standards.
- Provide technical support during plant outages, breakdowns, and major repairs.
- Maintain electrical, controls, and instrumentation documentation.
- Provide off-hours support when required, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Automation, Electronics Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of ControlLogix PLC and HMI design/programming experience required.
- 5+ years of MV/LV electrical design and maintenance experience required.
- 3+ years of cement plant experience required.
- Strong programming experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and Modicon PLCs.
- Strong PLC logic and HMI programming experience.
- Experience with VFDs, AC/DC motors, transformers, generators, MCCs, and electrical protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, process controls, machine automation, and industrial electrical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, regulatory requirements, and industrial standards.
- Strong understanding of the cement manufacturing process.
- Experience with SAP, AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong leadership, troubleshooting, project management, and communication skills.
Work Environment
Position requires working in an industrial cement plant with exposure to outdoor conditions, extreme temperatures, noise, and heavy equipment. Required PPE must be worn.
Must be able to perform physically demanding activities including walking, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting as required. DOT physical, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screening are required.
