Food manufacturing plant in Carlsbad CA is looking for a Sr. Mechanic. This will be a salary role as well they want to stick between $75k-$80k.
Start Time 5am Mon-Fri (Rare for weekend work)

Position Summary
The Senior Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and packaging equipment within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and will support preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement efforts to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose electrical issues involving 480V, motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, and control circuits.
- Troubleshoot PLCs and automated equipment to identify equipment faults and restore production.
- Maintain and repair conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, packaging equipment, mixers, fillers, and other production machinery.
- Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Complete equipment installations, adjustments, changeovers, and repairs.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed.
- Assist and mentor junior maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
- Document maintenance activities and work orders using a CMMS.
- Work closely with production to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Follow all LOTO, OSHA, GMP, food safety, and company safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance and production environment.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food, beverage, packaging, or high-speed manufacturing.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with 480V, PLC troubleshooting, VFDs, motors, and industrial controls.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, bearings, and gearboxes.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with preventive maintenance and CMMS systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment and responding to equipment breakdowns.
