BODY TECH OPENING IN PHILADELPHIA PA. LOOKING FOR A BODY TECH WHO CAN WHO CAN DO FRAME WORK, WELD, DO PANEL WORK, ETC.
FLAT RATE $26-$30 HOURLY
- Expected production: 80 flat-rate hours per week
- They expect the technician to complete enough work to “flag” 80 labor hours in a week, even though they only work around 40 actual hours.
- Actual hours worked: 40 hours
- Pay: $26 per flagged (flat-rate) hour
- If you flag 80 hours, your weekly pay would be:
- 80 × $26 = $2,080/week

- Equivalent hourly rate: $52/hour

Job Title: Auto Body Repair Technician

Job Summary
In this role, you will focus strictly on metal and panel repairs, component replacements, teardowns, and panel alignment.
Note on Workflow: You get to focus on what you do best— body work and assembly. You will not be responsible for paint preparation, masking, painting, or service-level mechanical repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Teardown & Blueprinting: Disassemble damaged vehicles, identify all hidden collision damage, and assist estimators with accurate blueprinting.
- Body & Sheet Metal Repair: Repair damaged body panels, fenders, doors, hoods, and quarter panels using specialized tools (e.g., stud welders, dent pullers, dollies).
- Parts Replacement: Remove and replace damaged bolt-on exterior components (bumpers, grilles, lights, glass moldings, body panels).
- Fit & Alignment: Ensure proper fit, gap alignment, and functional operation of all replaced or repaired exterior panels.
- Plastic & Composite Repair: Perform plastic welding, tab repairs, and bumper repairs.
- Post-Paint Reassembly: Reassemble vehicle trim, handles, moldings, and lighting after paint completion; verify pre-accident condition and clean operation.
- Quality Control: Inspect your work to ensure it meets safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and shop quality expectations before handing off to the paint department.
What You Will NOT Be Doing
- Paint prep work (sanding primer, blocking, masking, or wiping down for paint).
- Refinishing/Painting.
- Service mechanical repairs (engine work, fluid flushes, AC service, full suspension overhauls).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of professional auto body repair experience in a production collision center.
- Tools: Must possess a complete set of personal hand tools, power tools, and specialty body
