Mechanical Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with automated manufacturing equipment, and a background in tooling, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience within flexible packaging, converting, film, pouch forming/sealing, or injection molding environments and possess excellent technical and project management skills.
Qualifications Required
- 5–8 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Packaging, or Plastics Engineering
- Strong knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or CAD software
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pouch forming and sealing machines
- Experience with converting equipment and/or injection molding
- Converting or film manufacturing knowledge
- Knowledge of GMP standards for food or medical packaging
- Familiarity with BRC, ISO, and/or SQF standards
- Experience in film lamination and flexible packaging
- Lean Manufacturing experience
- Experience using MS Project or similar project management software
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through research, testing, and process development
- Design, modify, and test manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment
- Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layouts to improve efficiency
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment-related issues
- Work hands-on with production equipment and train team members on proper repair methods
- Partner with Quality teams on corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead cost reduction and process optimization projects
- Establish product and process testing methods and quality standards
- Calculate production, labor, and material costs to support manufacturing decisions
- Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing manufacturing data and trends
- Maintain product safety, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to maintain equipment uptime
- Train and mentor technicians on design and development projects
- Develop work instructions and reference materials
- Follow all GMPs, company policies, and safety procedures
- Report any food safety, quality, or food defense concerns to management
