Ready-to-eat refrigerated foods manufacturer near Oakland CA is looking for a Production Manager – this is a replacement, the incumbent is being promoted to a Plant Manager role.
Food manufacturing experience is required, would like to put someone on the kitchen operations side, possibly on the production assembly side if they're more focused in that area but the preference is on the kitchen operations side. On the kitchen side, on grills, ovens, skillets, industrial kitchen, vacuum tumblers, need a foods background with USDA/FDA, regulation knowledge, SQF facility. Over 2 shifts, 6 days a week, 60 directs, supervisor to assist on each shift.
Will work with Fresh foods, good planning skills, CI experience and skillset, help set direction. Need a hands on guy, incumbent is moving up to Plant Manager. 3-5 years Production Manager experience is wanted, degree not necessary.
80k – 90k – some flexibility upward for a star, no bonus defined plus good benefits

Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
- Follows the company’s requirements for continuing to maintain the SQF Certification.
· Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and maintains training to ensure compliance.
· Familiar with USDA, FDA, and customers’ food safety requirement.
- Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Maintains food safety by ensuring clean, sanitary and safe work environment; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform all functions according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Manage overall performance (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.) of assigned shift to achieve expected standards in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost
- Responsible to drive the creation and improvement of standardized work.
- Ensures escalation process standard work is followed and teams are engaging in Why-Why, Problem Solving Activities.
- Ensures that all orders are filled and staged for the trucks
- Ensures that all trucks are shipped as per agreed departure times or to short the trucks to hit the truck departure times
- Ensures teams maintain a clean orderly work area through use of 5S visuals management tools and standards.
- Participates in Site Focused Improvement events.
· Must responsible and follow the company’s food safety programs, FDA, and USDA regulations.
- Notifies management about actual or potential to food safety issues.
- Follows the company’s requirements for continuing to maintain the SQF Certification.
- Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and maintains training to ensure compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Ensure that discipline is administered fairly across the assemble room production associates in attendance and job performance.
- Provide supervision, oversight coaching and mentoring to the production supervisors and the line leads.
- Adheres to GSF Health, Safety and Environmental policies. Identifies and reports unsafe conditions and behaviors and takes individual accountability addressing corrective actions.

Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science, management, finance, business or technical discipline or a Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in operations or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift License
- CPR
