Maintenance Lead Mechanic
Position Summary
The Maintenance Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations while serving as a hands-on leader. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports production by leading maintenance activities, troubleshooting issues, and guiding a team of technicians in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, assign, and support maintenance technicians in daily tasks and projects
- Perform hands-on maintenance including troubleshooting, repair, and installation of equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement effective solutions
- Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) schedules are completed accurately and on time
- Review work orders, prioritize tasks, and coordinate maintenance activities with production teams
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliability
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Train and mentor maintenance team members to improve skill levels and performance
- Assist with parts inventory, ordering, and coordination with MRO/Parts departments
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis efforts
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide leadership during critical situations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems (including 480V), hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights or weekends if required
