SALARY RANGE: $130K- $150K 10% TARGET BONUS

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE IS OFFERED AS WELL. REIMBURSED IN INCREMENTS UP TO $10K (CASE BY CASE BASIS)

Operations Manager

Company Overview

This organization operates a highly automated food manufacturing facility and is seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to lead all aspects of plant performance.

This is a leadership role for a professional, honest, and results-driven manager with strong operational and financial acumen who can drive efficiency, quality, safety, and continuous improvement across the facility.


Position Summary

The Operations Manager has full financial and operational accountability for Production, Quality Assurance, Shipping, Engineering, Sanitation, Receiving, and all other manufacturing-related functions. This role oversees daily plant operations while developing strategies to improve productivity, control costs, maintain food safety compliance, and lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency targets are met

  • Lead and manage Production, QA, Shipping, Engineering, Sanitation, and Receiving departments

  • Identify, prioritize, and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste

  • Monitor and control product costing related to production practices

  • Manage all operational expenses, budgets, and financial performance

  • Develop, maintain, and update expense forecasts in coordination with the Finance Manager

  • Assign and delegate production activities to appropriate teams and personnel

  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Review and analyze process controls, cost estimates, and production metrics

  • Supervise, motivate, and develop teams while promoting accountability and engagement

  • Promote and enforce workplace safety by ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures

  • Review QA, production, and sanitation records for accuracy and compliance

  • Manage and oversee vendors and contractors related to manufacturing operations

  • Review food safety audits and lead corrective and preventive actions

  • Ensure full regulatory compliance, including food safety, OSHA, and company standards

  • Foster a respectful, professional, and inclusive work environment

  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in a baking or food production facility

  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong understanding of food safety systems, audits, and regulatory compliance

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, expenses, and operational financials

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • High level of analytical ability and sound independent judgment

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Windows-based systems)

Preferred

  • Bakery Food Science or AIB Certification, or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field

  • Experience managing automated manufacturing operations
