LARGE HIGH-SPEED MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN SOMERSET NJ IS LOOKING FOR A 1ST SHIFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER. STARTING PAY BETWEEN $120-$130K WITH 10% BONUS.THIS ROLE HAS 19 DIRECT REPORTS AND IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH PLC PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY: The Maintenance Manager provides leadership to the Secondary Equipment, Facilities, & Press Maintenance teams, supporting day to day activities. Driver of Safety, Quality, and continuous improvement of new and existing equipment and related machinery in support of efficient and effective manufacturing and business operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the work of maintenance staff and ensure that they are properly trained and equipped.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures for all equipment and machinery.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to identify potential problems.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production.
  • Implement standard operating procedures and machine center-lining
  • Order and manage spare parts and supplies.
  • Track maintenance costs and develop budgets.
  • Participate in the preparation and delivery of performance evaluations and department and individual goal alignment.
  • Implement PM programs and track repairs and failures after PMs.
  • OEE performance tracking, reporting and schedule adherence
  • Address employee relations issues on varying levels; engage with Human Resources on issue that extends beyond minor daily activity. May include policy violations, conflicts of interest and personality and behavioral issues among others.
  • Active member in the Safety Team driving accountability each and every day.
  • Provide support for auxiliary equipment repairs during production runs, new mold validations; new products on existing equipment.
  • Provide support in the procurement, installation, and training for all vision systems, PLCs, robots, machinery and automation.
  • Provide accessible technical leadership, mentoring and training guidance to the crew maintenance, preventive maintenance, and crew mechanics.
  • Provides support investigating Non-conforming and Customer Complaints, Implements new ideas/technology as necessary to resolve ongoing issues.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of activities occurring on each shift including downtime, repairs, scrap and others. Work in tandem with other crews and shifts to maintain the highest and most effective channels of communication and to ensure seamless production activities on a 24×7 basis.
  • Proactively seek methods to continuously improve operational effectiveness on our production equipment.
  • Participate in the formation of actionable, value-added solutions through suggestions and feedback to appropriate staff. Identify and communicate ideas that support production best practices.
  • Observe, adhere to and maintain current knowledge of all Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) and safety guidelines.  Foster, facilitate and encourage a safe work environment and abide by all safety procedures and standards of the company.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills by identifying root causes of problems and work to correct them.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • PLC programming experience.
  • Established fabrication skills.
  • Well-developed project management abilities.
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships with outside vendors.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and a sharp focus on safety.  Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Proactive problem solver.
  • Very good organization, follow-up and time management skills along with the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined.
  • Some college, 4-year college degree or equivalent through a combination of advanced learning and work experience
  • 5-7 years of experience with plastic injection molding production and assembly equipment with specific hands on expertise with electro-pneumatic-PLC controller machinery, hydraulics, wiring.

Food Safety Requirements:

  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
  • Comply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and data documented correctly at all times.
  • Report any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to Quality.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties, prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Lifting of up to 30 pounds above shoulder height. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. May need to walk varying distances, climb stairs, and bend.
