Night shift is from 6 pm to 3:30 am.  The candidate needs to have pine softwood planer mill experience.

This is a tight knit group, privately owned company, owners come out and have open communications with the employees, there are company get togethers once a quarter. It’s a quiet country life, they’re on the edge of Louisiana and Mississippi.
 
Planer Mill Supervisor  

This role will be accountable for the Planer production by managing staff, participating in the overall administration of ensuring safety, process, procedures, policies, production and accountable for metrics and planer performance on a day-to-day basis. The ideal individual will have strong leadership skills and ability to get work done through others. *Will be over 20- 22 production personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in promoting a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities and enhancing value-added processes.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and training by leading manufacturing principles and events with supervision.
  • Strengthen, develop and motivate staff by managing responsibilities and ensuring accountability. Continually sharpen the professional skills of team members.
  • Ensures safe work practices, follows safety procedures and completes required safety forms, checklists and permits.
  • Provide ideas, innovation and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities.
  • Ensure quality standards and order specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process of the wide range of products.
  • Other duties as needed.

Required Skills

  • At least 1 year of prior experience as a supervisor or lead in some type of mill operation
  • Demonstrative safety leadership
  • Excellent team-building and motivational skills
  • Understanding of accounting and financial metrics for a mill operation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous wood products manufacturing management experience.
  • Lean manufacturing/5S experience a plus

Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).

You're eligible for benefits on the 1st of the month after your start date, company pays for employees (employee only pays $10 per month for medical), eligible for 401k after 6 months, company does 50% match up to 5% of employee salary.
