nBrief Overview:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Controls Supervisor will be responsible for keeping the automated industrial control systems current. Establishing the appropriate level of maintenance controls knowledge and expertise on each shift to ensure the maintenance team has the ability to troubleshoot and correct any controls related line interruptions. Support programming, troubleshooting, calibration, project implementation and network Integration. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability, OEE.

nKey Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:n

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Departments
  • nt

  • Work with OEM’s to summarize equipment and system specific controls knowledge requirements for operators and maintenance personnel
  • nt

  • Develop documented training programs to ensure Control systems are maintained in top condition and troubleshooting is performed in a timely manner
  • nt

  • Train maintenance department on proper PLC troubleshooting\
  • nt

  • Build internal training program  
  • nt

  • Support PLC projects in facility from design to installation
  • nt

  • Build key relationships with OEM and support contractors
  • nt

  • Work with and Corporate Engineering departments to ensure that OEM’s and outside technical support contractors have remote access to equipment on an as needed bases, following all corporate I.T. and cyber security guidelines

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of industrial control systems and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC’s)
  • nt

  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment
  • nt

  • Replace defective components and wiring, and adjust mechanical parts
  • nt

  • Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking and communication; troubleshoot, determine causes of failure and perform corrective actions; oversee full industrial control system project implementation on both hardware and software problems

  • Support predictive and preventative maintenance program
  • nt

  • Support plant control system upgrades
  • nt

  • Ensure compliance with Controls Change Management System
  • nt

  • Troubleshoot and calibrate the following properly and safely: control panels using relay logic; Cam-driven switch boxes; heat and humidity control systems; process control valves; pneumatic control systems; hydraulic control systems; metal detection systems; ink jet coding systems, electronic scaling systems, electronic meters
  • nt

  • Interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor starters, run relays; Variable Frequency Drives(VFDs); Servo motors and controls
  • nt

  • Interface with and troubleshoot Allen Bradley and other plant PLC’s including connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, programming, diagnosing hardware and software problems
  • nt

  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements
  • nt

  • Establish and maintain min/max on hand inventories of all required spare parts and components needed to properly maintain all control systems
  • nt

  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF Systems
  • nt

  • Accountable to the Food Safety and Quality Principles

nMinimum Qualifications:nn

  • 2 years College Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Equivalent Progressive Field Experience
  • nt

  • 3 years in food manufacturing /production or industrial environment
  • nt

  • 3 years as progressive programming technician on Allen Bradley, Modicon, Seimens, Factory talk
  • n

nPreferred Qualifications:nn

    nt

  • Sound working knowledge of Electrical Safe Work Practices; AC and DC Electrical Theory; reading/creating electrical prints/control schematics; motor control; personal computer hardware and software; computer networks; Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems; pneumatic and hydraulic valves; photo eyes; proximity sensors; limit switches; breakers; fuses

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics and parts specification
  • nt

  • Extensive knowledge in Control instrumentation (4-20ma, 0-10v)
  • nt

  • Experience with full Industrial Control System project implementation
  • nt

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • nt

  • Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions
  • nt

  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • nt

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • nt

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
