“SENIOR ELECTRICAL CONTROLS TECH OPENING IN SILVER SPRINGS, NY AT A LARGE FOOD MANUFACTURING PLANT. SALARY RANGE IS 70-85K WITH OVERTIME PAY AS WELL. GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO GET IN WITH A FAST GROWING ORGANIZATION.
n To provide technical support through maintaining, developing, revising, and recommending control systems and related equipment (including software), and PLC control programs. Supports the processes and maintenance required to manufacture, process, package and ship salt in a multi-shift environment. Support production from the electrical side of machinery such as but not limited to, assembly lines, power systems, machine controls, robotics, programmable controllers, pc-based controls, real time computer systems and instrumentation. Support equipment installation, make minor machine modifications, and keep accurate maintenance records while constantly striving to maintain a goal of zero equipment breakdowns.
nMAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
n• Accountable for Providing Leadership in Support of the Safety Journey and the Company’s Goal of Achieving an Injury-Free Workplace
n• Accountable for Continuous Improvement in Workplace Safety by Promptly Addressing the Root Causes of OIIs or Near Misses, Conducting Effective Safety Meetings, Promptly Addressing Safety Concerns Raised by Employees, and Leading by Example
n• Accountable for EHS Compliance, Quality Policies and Procedures compliance and Environment Policies, Programs and Good Practices and maintains required records for all of these areas.
n• Ensures adherence to standard work processes (MEWP), including Manufacturing Control and Reporting System (MCRS)
n• Ensures compliance with corporate standards (e.g., financial, code of business conduct) and adherence to company policies.
n• Ensures adherence to the return of equipment to production.
n• Acts as a technical resource for production supervisors and engineers and craft people for maintenance and reliability issues.
n• Makes recommendations to maintenance for preventative maintenance activities
n• Responsible for maintenance of plant PLCs (OPTO 22, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and other control systems utilized in the facility.
n• Responsible for maintenance of boiler burner management systems
n• Responsible for troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
n• Responsible for troubleshooting and calibration of equipment specific controllers, control systems, and electrical systems
n• Responsible for providing training for plant employees on new software and equipment controls.
n• Responsible for assisting Project Engineers in developing control schematics and loop drawings as needed.
n• Responsible for providing information relating to customers' hardware and software purchasing decisions
n• Responsible for making sure users can use the equipment, by providing training and self-help instructions
n• Responsible for undertaking housekeeping and reporting functions for the area of responsibility.
n• Responsible for remaining current in all required company and job-related training.
n• Responsible for promoting harmonious working relationships.
n• Responsible for delivering quality products and services to all internal and external customers.
n• Responsible for representing ensuring proper business conduct and good public relations.
n• Responsible for following all Safety, Environmental and Quality Control policies and procedures.
nIs aware of HACCP requirements and compliance thereof.
n• Responsible for filling in for Maintenance Supervisors, as required, and performing other duties as assigned.
n Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
n • AAS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Equivalent
n• Minimum of 5 years working in an industrial/maintenance environment
n• Excellent oral and written skills

n • Possesses knowledge of technical information on the unit/area.
n• Demonstrates background knowledge of operating procedure and process.
n• Technical Skills
no Proficiency in developing PLC software for Allen-Bradley SLC-500, PLC5 and OPTO 22 Snap I/O Programmable Logic Controllers currently monitoring and controlling plant production equipment.
no Proficiency in setup, debug and maintenance of DC, SCR and variable frequency drives
no Understanding the vision system software controlling the can line inspection station.
no Understanding the Burner Management Systems on the Gas Fired Boiler.
no Has knowledge of power distribution systems
n• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
n• Knowledge of current industrial electrical standards and codes a plus. (NEC, NFPA 79).
n• Knowledge of AC motors and variable frequency drives and DC motors and DC drives
n• Must have experience working with machine supply and control wiring (24vdc to 480VAC), and industrial wiring practices.
n• Knowledge of Fanuc, Allen-Bradley PLC’s, and OPTO PLCs and computer programming as it pertains to troubleshooting machines
n• Minimal supervision required to make machine modifications after initial assignment and explanation of work required.
n KEY INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
n • Requires daily contact with employees in other departments, specifically (but not limited to) departmental managers and Corporate Engineering Personnel
n SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
n • Normal working schedule is daylight shift – flexible schedule and overtime may be required.
n• Responds to urgent or emergency situations during work and outside of normal working hours, as needed.
n• Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. May perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders/stairs and working on elevated platforms. Uses hand tools and operates fixed and mobile plant equipment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity. Wears personal protective equipment, as required and uses full range of motion
n• Uses tools necessary to diagnose and troubleshoot in order to meet project needs as necessary.
n• Performs duties in confined space entries.
n• Works in general office and manufacturing plant environment.
