nJob Purpose:

The Sanitation Manager oversees the sanitation process needed to ensure food safety and a contamination free environment in accordance with Company, State and Federal sanitation standards and is responsible for all activities involved in maintaining the cleanliness and food safety environment of the Processing facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Supervises all Sanitation personnel.
  • nt

  • Develops and institutes effective sanitation procedures to ensure product quality and safety.
  • nt

  • Conducts at least one SSPO verification each quarter to reinforce established sanitation procedures.
  • nt

  • Maintains and updates Sanitation Training/Procedure Manual on an annual or as needed basis.
  • nt

  • Supports and trains other departments in sanitation methods and procedures.
  • nt

  • Review’s sanitation problems, concerns, or improvements with each department.
  • nt

  • Facilitates open communication on all levels to ensure sanitation problems are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Provides and implements a Master Sanitation Schedule that ensures regular equipment and facility sanitation is performed.
  • nt

  • Updates and reviews the Master Sanitation Schedule and reviews any changes with Production Manager.
  • nt

  • Meets weekly with Plant Engineering and Production Manager to plan all equipment and facility sanitation to avoid inter-departmental scheduling conflicts.
  • nt

  •  Oversees sanitation verification, pre-op inspection and cleanliness effectiveness checks.
  • nt

  • As an HACCP team member / corrective action driver, effectively assists in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints by participating in information gathering, root cause analysis and corrective action identification and implementation.

  • Participates in facility management meetings and internal audits when scheduled. Ensures corrective and preventative action plans are implemented and effective when assigned.

  • Responsible for the training and development necessary to maintain a knowledgeable, experienced, and productive sanitation staff. May assist in the selection/hiring of sanitation employees.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and two-way communication with co- workers and other personnel throughout the Company.

  • Supports and participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Manage inventory of Sanitation supplies and ensure that all chemical applications are performed in accordance with Sanitation methodology operating procedures.

  • With QA, implements GMP procedures that relate to cleanliness, food safety and pest control with the facility.
  • nt

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining a supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.
  • nt

  • Effectively conduct team meetings. Provide a satisfying and rewarding work environment for employees.
  • nt

  • Effectively communicates organization and policy changes.
  • nt

  • Train sanitation personnel in best practices, safety, to understand MSDS information, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

  • Observe and enforce all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • nt

  • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e., attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Employee Handbook, etc.)

  • Complies with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e., OSHA, FDA, etc.).

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years related work experience required.

  • 5+ management experience

  • Ability to read chemical labels and follow safe handling procedures for all chemicals used in cleaning activities.
  • nt

  • Experience and knowledge in food sanitation operations, procedures, chemicals, and program standards, preferably in a general food or manufacturing industry.
  • nt

  • An understanding of pathogens and other food contaminants.
  • nt

  • An understanding of modes of control of various sanitation chemicals and physical cleaning.
  • nt

  • Must have a working knowledge of managing master sanitation schedules and individual work assignments.
  • nt

  • Must have a working knowledge of correct chemical applications for cleaning and sanitizing (what type of chemicals are appropriate for various equipment metal fabrication, etc.).
  • nt

  • Must have a working knowledge of proper chemical solution dilution verifications (use of test strips to ensure proper chemical strength at prescribed PPM) and chemical solution dilution validation (use of titration kit).

  • Must understand and comply with all GMP’s and Food Safety requirements.
