2nd shift (B shift) Production Supervisor
Monday – Saturday workweek, 3 pm – midnight or 1 am
, will try to have this Supervisor work 2 Saturdays a month but there’ll be times when they’ll work 3-4 Saturdays in a month during peak grilling season like in the summer months.

MUST understand HACCP, be energetic, MUST come out of food industry if not meat which would be a BIG plus. Need to be good with training, mentoring, and coaching their people so they need outstanding people skills, should know Lean manufacturing, a cert of some sort like HACCP would be great. They'll relocate someone – the employee will get 15% of their salary for as a reimbursement for moving expenses to be received on their second weekly check, they obviously want to make sure the candidate starts work and lasts for a couple of weeks before they spend the money. Bilingual not required. Will be over 10 – 20 production personnel.  B shift will be 3 pm to about midnight or 1 am in the pump department. 70k – 75k plus a 9-10% bonus which is performance based (will include making sure their people watch the Safety video, do a new employee questionnaire for each of their hires so that they can get to know their people, efficiency and yield). 

 

SUMMARY: The Department Supervisor is responsible for departmental operations, production, safety and policy enforcement for the assigned department. The Supervisor will maintain department work schedules and ensures proper documentation. Other responsibilities include; ensuring daily reports are being completed accurately and timely, ensure Department weekly time sheets are properly filled out and approved. Work closely and assist in coordination of the activities of the maintenance. Plan and review departmental project work with the Production Manager. Administer HACCP and GMP policies. Schedule daily production schedules in CAT2 and M3 based on customer orders. Conduct daily meetings with department direct reports on KPI’s and Safety. Maintain high standards of excellence, attention to detail and the willingness/flexibility to work through peak work cycles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:

  • Overseeing day to day department operations, identifying problems and developing and implementing corrective and preventative measures.
  • Supervision of between 5 and 50 direct reports, depending on department assigned.
  • Ensure department personnel follow the established procedures for start up, operation, and shutdown of the department.
  • Follow production reports and troubleshoot any issues during operation. Offers potential solutions and reports any issues on a daily basis to Production Manager.
  • Ensure prescribed checks and monitoring of all operating equipment are carried out as required.
  • Establishes and ensures that safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Coordinate all new employee activities and training for department.
  • Maintain proper records and logs of activities and operating conditions, and down time.
  • Work closely with all other management staff to ensure safe and productive activities.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, vendors, senior staff, staff support.
  • Prepare and maintain updated production schedules.
  • Understand, support and help implement/maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), ERP, Operating Policies, and Daily’s safety programs.
  • Understand, support and help implement goals and objectives, and continuous improvement plans and activities.
  • Provide leadership in professionalism and ethics.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by company’s management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises employees under the direction of the Production Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training new employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent is required, two (2) or more years related experience and/or training in supervisory roles. Prior experience in bacon production or further processed meats is preferred, but at least some food industry experience is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in the English language correspondence, general business reports, professional journals, technical procedures or

Government regulations. Ability to write clear, accurate and concise reports and business correspondence. Must be ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, consultants, and technicians, and direct production reports. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical formulas to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters of policies. Ability to define and solve practical problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables in handling situations.

DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES: Must work primarily in a supervisory capacity. Have the authority to remove employees from an eminent danger condition. Have informal contact daily with supervisor and other department supervisors. Changes involving programs, policies, and procedures require higher approval. Good organizational and writing skills necessary to track and document production reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to efficiently and effectively move to all areas of production. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms. Must be able to wear all safety and production related equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment varies from an office setting, production floor and outside climate conditions, depending on department assigned. Noise level may vary within areas of the plant. Must be able to tolerate cold (45 degrees or colder) and wet conditions.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and may be adjusted (increased or decreased) by management as required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as necessary. Must be able to work Weekends and Holidays as scheduled by customer product demand.
