PM shift Maintenance Supervisor – 5 pm – 5:15 am are the shift hours.

Need to have hands on mechanical, electrical and refrigeration experience in manufacturing environments, will be over 5 mechanics, preferably food/meat production, as well as knowledge of and compliance with GMP's, and food manufacturing best practices. Should be a competent troubleshooter, and be tenacious in equipment repair, in order to limit downtime. Schedule is 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on then 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, and so on. 80k is starting point, 5 pm – 5:15 am are the shift hours.  willing to go higher for the right guy.

SUMMARY: Improves Maintenance Team productivity and quality through hands-on Supervisory direction of Maintenance Technicians. Works with the Maintenance Manager to oversee MRO parts and materials for repairs and replacements.  This person is reliability-minded in the commissioning, maintaining, and repairing of Plant Assets, helps drive Best Practices maintenance approaches, and is familiar with or has been exposed to continuous improvement and 5S programs and policies. Promotes strong team cohesiveness, and a collaborative mindset within and outside the department.  Will to help build and apply Reliability Maintenance and TPM processes and repeatable procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/CAPABILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  The successful candidate:

  • Adheres to all company safety policies/procedures and holds others accountable.
  • Is responsible for providing long-term solutions and day-to-day leadership and management for maintenance employees, leading problem analysis, time/project management, and works with Planner/Scheduler on job planning and KPI’s.
  • Is well-rounded in the direction and instruction of Maintenance teams, and provides feedback to employees, including communicating any changes in policies or procedures as needed.
  • Ensures all new hires are trained properly and existing employees perform their jobs safely, correctly, and with the highest level of quality and ability, and coordinates all new employee activities and training relative to the shift.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager in performing administrative tasks, planning and work-flow analysis, and ensures weekly and daily reports and checklists are turned in timely and accurately.

  • Experience / competence in CMMS software, work planning and execution, assisting in PM optimization, and leading work execution with scopes of work that include risk controls, all technical specifications, quality standards and control points for contractors and fabricators.
  • Experience with reporting leading and lagging metrics and KPIs that 1) drive individual behaviors, 2) steer maintenance systems decisions, 3) impact asset reliability, 4) align with plant and corporate metrics and expectations.
  • Understands and has had experience in minimizing variations in maintenance processes (Six Sigma) and has introduced Corrective Actions and Defect Elimination.
  • Understands and (preferably) has had experience in Reliability precepts and Asset Management principles, including ACA, FMEA/FMECA, RPNs, Failure Modes and Failure Codes, RCA, Precision Maintenance Practices.
  • Understands technical concepts, and can explain them publicly, clearly, and confidently so others can understand the information and act upon it.
  • Understands Quality Control, including defect creation and elimination, purchasing specifications for operation and engineering performance, and quality standards.
  • 5+ years’ experience in food or meat processing plant experience is preferred, as well as knowledge of and compliance with GMP, and food manufacturing best practices.
  • Having previously installed, troubleshot, and repaired mechanical and electrical systems at the facility, equipment and component level environments. Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience.  Ability to read/understand schematics.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems and work order processes; able to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • Good planning and priority-setting skills.
  • Strong leadership skills (conflict resolution, facilitation, change management skills, decision-making, empowerment and delegation).  

LANGUAGE SKILLS:   Mandatory ability to speak, understand, read and write in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations preferred.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform your responsibilities in situations that are physically demanding, tight fitting, wide temperature ranging, and noisy.  Will spend approximately 75% / 25% plant/shop time to office time.  Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to use ladders, scissor and aerial lifts, and climb stairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud.  Space temperatures may range from below freezing to triple digits.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Able to work extended work schedules on rare occasions.
