FOOD MANUFACTURING CLIENT NEEDS A STRONG ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE MANAGER IN COMMERCE CA. SALARY RANGE IS 110-120K NO HIGHER WITH 2 WEEKS VACAY AFTER 6 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT.  ITS HEAVY ON ELECTRICAL SO MUST HAVE A STRONG HANDS ON ELECTRICAL BACKGROUND WITH PLC'S. 

Maintenance Manager –

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Maintenance Manager enhances plant service quality and equipment reliability by improving workflows and optimizing maintenance processes. This position, a key link between maintenance, engineering, and manufacturing centers, improves equipment design, reliability, and maintainability. The Maintenance Manager has a critical role in minimizing downtime and failure rates and maximizing productivity, in a union environment.

This position will lead the plant maintenance function supporting a 24/7 operation. The Maintenance Manager serves as the key technical resource for the manufacturing operation focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution of electrical/mechanical systems, HVAC, packaging equipment and raw material transfer systems. This positions also plays a key role in plant continuous improvement.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs and improves processes, layouts, and specifies tools and equipment to achieve cost reductions and improve safety, quality, and overall equipment reliability; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
  • Provides analysis and resolution of repetitive equipment failures.  Adjusts PM program to address and improve these failures.
  • Maintains a PC based preventive maintenance program that includes all major pieces of equipment and plant systems. Creates a stockroom system of key inventory items maintained at the “right” physical levels to support plant needs.
  • Continues developing an existing preventive maintenance and facilities work order system that tracks maintenance labor hours and hold mechanics accountable for their performance.
  • Effectively deals with emergencies, unplanned problems and equipment repairs.
  • Adapts maintenance tools and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability, monitoring and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Capable of programming new and existing PLC’s. –
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures, requesting special service as needed.
  • Works with vendors to source parts and to substitute OEM parts with more economical options, designing and testing improved parts, updating older electronics that are no longer supported by manufacturers to improve equipment functionality.
  • Leverages supplier relationships to take advantage of service programs and realize cost savings opportunities.
  • May be required to manage capital projects including identifying scope, specifications, design, cost, milestones, and oversees installation as well as the start-up and de-bugging of new equipment for the production process.

 

  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to shift technicians in all aspects of their work.
  • Serves as a key resource for safety related issues with the goal of meeting/ exceeding OSHA requirements for a safe workplace. Is an active resource for safety programs including Lock Out Tag out, and others as designated.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Provides Quality review for documentation changes to engineering prints, maintenance and manufacturing work instructions, ensuring that manufacturing and proper engineering practices are followed.
  • Participates as a functional member of new product development teams, ensuring the application of appropriate design controls, providing technical assistance, and assuring the complete application of validation activities.

Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversees PLC Controls Technicians
  • Manages and recommends Capital Automation projects.
  • Manages Continuous improvement initiatives, and manages and develops PM measures  accordingly
  • Will Manage all incoming automation projects designate training and delegates team processes
  • Partners with cross functional teams to drive appropriate Safety, productivity standards, and cost.

Management Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in developing work tools and position descriptions
  • Is an active resource in selection of new team members
  • Manages and maintains Overtime standards
  • Establishes accountability and maintains a positive team environment
  • Recommends assentation and manages discipline in a fair and positive manner
  • Manages team development and recommends training plans as needed by position and trade.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline or, an equivalent combination of work experience, training and/or education may be considered.
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years in manufacturing shop floor experience.
  • Must have prior project management experience.
  • Must have demonstrated machine and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts, continuous improvement and problem solving methodologies.
  • Proficient in Computer applications; specifically MS Office, SolidWorks, Manufacturing software, Allen/Bradley PLC’s to include: SLC-500 and 5000, and Micro-logics
  • Experience with CMMS, Auto-Cad preferred.
