  1. Nature of Work
  2. The Maintenance Manager is accountable for planning, assignment, execution and evaluation of all servicing and maintenance of equipment, production areas, support systems and facility surroundings. Ensures all Maintenance staff follows GMP’s, Safety, Food Safety, Operational and Company guideline/policies. Ensures daily checks and effective communication among shifts, Mechanics, Leads and Supervisors. Works closely with manufacturing and quality assurance departments to ensure equipment is maintained in a manner that keeps unscheduled downtime to a minimum and meets stringent food safety and quality requirements.

    The Maintenance Manager's job also includes understanding mechanical and technical work, having excellent leadership and supervisory skills. Will direct and oversee all daily maintenance activities including delegation of tasks, tracking mechanical performance, and directing the processes of any necessary repairs.

  3. Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Select, train and supervise department employees; evaluate performance to assure adherence to all company standards, taking corrective action as required. Maintain awareness of employee needs and concerns and take steps necessary to foster a positive and respectful work environment.
    2. Continually and critically evaluate all work activities as a basis for change or improvement which will eliminate potential safety hazards, increase productivity or reduce costs.
    3. Exercise good judgment and discretion in the use and care of company assets under his supervision; while ensuring maximum efficient use for production.
    4. Develops and maintains a positive, productive relationship and works closely with other departments, to provide feedback to adjust plans as needed and actively participate in the development of these plans.
    5. Make recommendations to General Manager concerning policies, procedures, techniques, facilities, equipment, process changes and any other matter relative to the effective operation of the department and company.
    6. Leads by example and builds a high achieving and cross functional production team capable of sustaining the company’s profitability, goals and vision.
    7. Deploys the right people to the best opportunities and involves and engages others effectively in setting direction. Is capable of correcting course and adjust direction when needed.
    8. Manages work assignments and hold staff accountable for these assignments and resulting performance.
    9. Monitors and manages employee schedules to maximize coverage and controls overtime to achieve stated objectives.
    10. Resolves any employee issues and documents disciplinary actions and superior performance recognition for all employees.
    11. Conducts timely performance evaluations of subordinates and encourages and works with subordinate to reach department and personal development goals.
    12. Determines training needs of staff; develops, recommends, and implements training programs.
    13. Site knowledge leader on equipment and parts specifications. Establishes site criteria and/or part/equipment standards and manages site compliance to these standards.
    14. Analyzes and determines needs for equipment, tools and people and justifies the need for them in a structured and justifiable way.
    15. Manage tools, supplies, spare parts and equipment inventory levels as well as management and development of a critical spare part and equipment program. Maintains vendor relationships and orders new materials as needed.
    16. Ensure that work instructions, procedures, job descriptions, etc. are created, updated and followed.
    17. Communicate cross-departmentally with all levels regarding maintenance activities, equipment conditions, scheduled down-times and work prioritization. Promotes open communication by maintaining an open-door policy with maintenance staff.
    18. Has the ability to address all unplanned downtime events in order to return site to “safe and reliable operations” as soon as feasible while working closely with production to minimize product loss.
