JOB SUMMARY Accountable for the quality control and assurance of all materials and products used or manufactured in the Silver Springs, NY Facility. Ensures compliance to company, customer, and regulatory agency quality requirements. Oversees the implementation of Quality policies, Quality Personnel, and the Quality Laboratory for all Food, Agricultural, and Chemical Grade sodium chloride products. MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accountabilities • Accountable for Providing Leadership in Support of the Safety Journey and the Company’s Goal of Achieving an Injury-Free Workplace • Accountable for Continuous Improvement in Workplace Safety by Promptly Addressing the Root Causes of OIIs or Near Misses, Conducting Effective Safety Meetings, Promptly Addressing Safety Concerns Raised by Employees, and Leading by Example • Accountable for Quality Policies and Procedures compliance, Quality Programs, Good Manufacturing Practices and maintains required records for all of these areas as applicable. • Accountable and responsible for finished product quality sampling, inspection, testing, and disposition • Accountable and responsible for maintaining a Food Safety (FSP) program in accordance with FDA and customer requirements. • Accountable and responsible for in-process material sampling, inspection, testing, and disposition • Accountable and responsible for incoming raw, chemical, and packaging material sampling, inspection, testing, and disposition • Accountable and responsible for conducting internal and supplier quality audits • Accountable and responsible for associate talent development, training, & competencies. This includes assigning and monitoring personal Goal Objectives to department staff, as identified through the Morton Salt standardized performance management system. • Accountable and responsible for Customer Complaint investigation through the Quality Notification System, root cause analysis, corrective/preventative action, CAPA follow-up, and response • Accountable and responsible for the generation and distribution of COAs and COCs as applicable • Accountable and responsible for communicating quality associated regulatory and specification requirements • Accountable for industrial and consumer complaint investigation and response • Accountable and responsible for no-charge sample distribution • Accountable and responsible for plant level analytical and technical services • Accountable and responsible for management of the quality analytical laboratory • Accountable and responsible for product / process deviation investigation and report generation • Accountable for food safety and food security regulatory compliance Page 2 of 3 • Accountable and responsible for Customer and Morton Salt Sales technical support and services (customer surveys, general inquiries, questionnaires, etc.) • Accountable and responsible for facility level quality system design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement • Accountable and responsible for facility quality system and regulatory compliance employee training • Accountable and responsible for the coordination of and response to customer, corporate, regulatory and Global Standard quality audits of the Silver Springs Operations Facility • Accountable and responsible for quality department general administration (scheduling, personnel, budget management, report generation, performance reviews, equipment/supply orders…) • Accountable and responsible for quality department generation of Cost of Quality reports through Internal Failure reporting of KPI’s at both the Corporate and Facility Levels which include but are not limited to: Quality Notification, Non-Conformances, Corrective Action Compliance, Root Cause Analysis, Variances, Quality Training, Pellet Quality, Housekeeping • Accountable and responsible for CAR project Quality review and approval • Accountable for safe work practices for the Quality Department at the Silver Springs facility • Accountable and responsible for maintaining proper sampling, testing, reporting, and record keeping of various environmental permits and reports. • Accountable and responsible for Annual Salt Analyses and Potable Water requirements including sample collection, analysis and contract lab performance. • Accountable and responsible for obtaining pertinent accreditations for audit compliance. • Certified in Food Defense, PCQI, and is the Silver Springs Food Safety Coordinator. • As FSPTeam Member shall ensure duties or work instructions are in place and communicated to all staff involved with the plant’s FSP program and how it applies to product safety, legality, and quality. Responsibilities • Responsible for all FSP Analysis and any related FSP issues. • Responsible for returned product, scrap, nonconforming material • Responsible for conformance to applicable product quality specification requirements (internal, customer, FCC) • Responsible for conformance to applicable industrial and government regulatory agency quality requirements (ISO 9001, BRC, FDA, FPA, et cetera) • Responsible for compliance to corporate safety program requirements • ISO Quality Management Representative – Responsible for the implementation, improvements and monitoring of the Quality Management System-ISO 9001 Standard- including awareness of customer requirements. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education and Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or other related field. • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment. • Minimum three (3) years in Quality management in the food or pharmaceutical industry • Knowledge of GMPs in the food and pharmaceutical industries • Master’s Degree preferred. • Computer proficient; knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, SAP preferred • Minimum three (3) years of Supervisory experience Certifications/Affiliations Required • HACCP Certification, Food Defense, PCQI, – First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications-Blood borne Pathogen
