JOB DESCRIPTION: Engineering Specialist

Job Summary

The Engineering Specialist (ES) is a non-exempt position that provides specialized skills in support of capital project implementation and administration. The Utilities ES is responsible for vendor interaction and selection as well as soliciting and requesting bids from approved vendors, The Utilities ES must have an in-depth knowledge of plant utility systems such as electrical, steam, and hot water boilers, air compressors, HVAC, refrigeration, Hydronics, fluid coolers and pumps in order to provide accurate technical support and leadership. The Utilities ES is responsible for the identification and resolution of issues, review, and revision of processes and procedures, and enhancement of team member skills. The Utilities ES will support the plant operations in achieving the key results in safety, quality, productivity and cost, through the implementation of new equipment, continuous improvement, and cost savings projects.  The Utilities ES insures, in conjunction with plant Engineers that all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and industrial codes are adhered to in the repair and installation of equipment. The Utilities ES must have a strong working relationship with WEI.  This position also requires off-hour availability, as needed, for support of the operation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Implementation and management of projects to Scope, Schedule, and Budget. Perform capital project administration. PR, PO, and CAR submission. Invoice handling. PIS reporting activities.
Update and maintain technical documentation and information on the Technical Services SharePoint page, Maintenance library, and machine control panels. Facility drawings, electrical schematics, process and instrumentation diagrams, specifications, bid packages, etc.
Facilitate effective relationships with both internal and external customers (suppliers, vendors, and contractors) in support of project implementation and the technical services function in general.
Support the team of technicians in the areas of problem-solving and troubleshooting. Provide training and corrective instructions to ensure quality performance under their technical direction.
Support current technology through the development of Operational user documents and/or technical manuals. SOPs, OPLs, JSAs, Job Plans, etc.
Perform miscellaneous tasks to include reconciliation of SAP with excel tracking sheet, scanning PO’s and invoices, shutdown planning activities, presentation development, etc.  Perform other duties directed by the manager.
Must be proficient in the utilization of all business tools, Maximo, SharePoint, MS Office, IFIX, Excel, etc.
Manage an action list of current issues with the WEI equipment.
Attend M&V kickoff and exit meetings to discuss and resolve issues with the WEI equipment.
Continually monitor the WEI matrix to ensure top performance.
Perform PM audits to ensure equipment longevity.
Write work orders for equipment repair requests.
Perform a daily equipment walk-through to ensure there is no UPDT.
Manage the Glycol additions chart to ensure there is no cross-contamination into the product.
Associates or relative experience with at least 3-6 years of experience
Experience with various machine mechanical functions (including pneumatic and hydraulic), experience with machine electrical systems, including control wiring, must be able to use basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel)
