Summary
Reporting to Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance during off shifts to keep Company roasting plant equipment in good working condition for the support of roasting, packaging, mail order, and shipping & receiving.
Duties
Supervises team of department technicians and ensures production meets or exceeds Company Quality, Safety, Food Safety & Efficiency standards. Informs manager of performance issues or any other issues requiring attention.
Sets staffing levels for each shift to insure adequate coverage. Manages staff time-off requests and temporary staff reassignment to insure production needs are met.
Works with his coordinators to assign responsibility for tasks; sets clear objectives and measures progress and results.
Meets regularly and works closely with Roasting Plant and Warehouse managers to understand areas of concern and opportunity in their operations.
Oversees and schedules manufacturing equipment & vehicle maintenance and repairs with the appropriate vendors.
Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System to create and schedule work orders, create and schedule a preventive maintenance program, the purchasing, receiving, inventory, and usage of parts, and a record of the labor activity of the department technicians.
Maintains a database on Company equipment and vehicles including maintenance records, specifications, operations & maintenance manuals, and blueprints.
Helps to plan and implement new equipment purchases and installations.
Participates in the planning of the department maintenance budgets and needs.
Evaluates and reports on condition and function of all plant equipment.
Corrects any safety hazards in a timely manner. Participates on Company safety committee.
Oversees departmental housekeeping efforts to ensure compliance with internal standards as well as third party auditor’s food safety standards.
Ensures safety and sanitation standards are met through compliance with plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Ensures department tasks are done accurately and in a safe, timely fashion.
Acts as a role model for rest of department, exceeding Company key performance standards and adhering to Company employee guidelines.
Requirements:
Minimum of five years of facilities maintenance experience and training.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, make recommendations and draw conclusions.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general troubleshooting.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.
Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication techniques.
Computer proficiency; accurate word processing, data entry.
