Provide leadership and direction to the team, as well as, program, setup, and operate a variety of machine tools to produce custom precision parts and instruments. Equipment to include; CNC Milling Centers, CNC Lathe, Engine Lathe, and Wire EDM Machine. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.  This position requires not only leading the team but being very hands on with the work in the department.




  • Provide guidance in schedule and timelines to complete projects in machine shop
  • Complete performance evaluation of the members of the team and provide training and development plan to enhance skills of the individuals on the team
  • Solid works would add 2D and 3D
  • Train employees in the proper use of equipment, enforce safety and GMP regulations, assign tasks, and oversee employees' work. Interpret blueprints and develop plans for how to complete a job/ project.
  • Manage and control raw material purchases to timely complete jobs and minimize expenditures and inventory on hand.
  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
  • Calculate dimensions of workpieces, products, or equipment.
  • Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications
  • Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations and program CNC equipment using Mastercam and EZ CAM software.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
  • SolidWorks, and other software to design, review models, and create and upload programs into CNC equipment to fabricate parts.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition
  • Study sample parts, SolidWorks drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
  • Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
  • Monitor lubrication of equipment or workpieces.
  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions.
  • Design fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
  • Design tools, fixtures, or other devices for production equipment.
  • Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
  • Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.
  • Install repaired parts into equipment or install new equipment.




  • Leadership/Management experience 5 years plus in a job shop machine shop environment
  • Experience with CNC Mills, CNC Grinder, Sodick Wire EDM, and CNC Lathe programming and setup required
  • Professional training or certifications preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with machining metal products highly desired
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Machinist role; highly preferred creating and uploading programming for CNC operations
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Software experience with Mastercam and EZCam highly preferred
  • Experience with AP500, Fanuc, and Mori CNC controls preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work functions
  • Demonstrated root cause analyses skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Microsoft suite, SAP familiarity preferred
