Manufacturing Lead Tool Maker


General Summary


Performs various duties in the support of the Manufacturing and Operations Departments.  Tasks will be drawn from varied manufacturing activities associated with company products and related systems.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Receives assignments from the Production Supervisor.
  • Provides guidance in determining manufacturing feasibility by collaborating with Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Reviews project specification and process requirements with the assigned Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Coordinates the execution of projects utilizing drawings and Work Order Travelers.
  • Assign project tasks to the Manufacturing Associates.
  • Responsible for the ensuring the Manufacturing Associate team maintains the requirements in the work order travelers; including hours to complete, sequence of operations and written instructions.
  • Provides guidance and training to Manufacturing Associates when possible.
  • Promotes and practices safety policies and shop procedures to insure a safe work environment.

Skills / Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in shop operations.
  • Ability to supervise (lead) personnel.
  • Proficient in engineering drawings, shop sketches and GD&T.
  • Ability to convey both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to present project status updates.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.  


  • High school graduate minimum.
  • Trade school preferred.



Busy Aerospace Machine shope is looking for an experienced ToolMaker.  Tool makers may perform a variety of duties depending on their position and employer. Some tool maker positions involve only stamping out tools with machine, while others include working with design software and 3D modeling to come up with solutions to solve technical problems (such as components for aircraft and other vehicles). The ability to read blueprints and create tools is essential for this job. Some positions require working on a team to provide input for new products that will improve the company or field operations. Another part of the job is repairing tools and troubleshooting current tools if they are not working well.
