Job Title : Mechanic

Summary : Installs, repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Performs production line setups and change overs.

 

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

 

Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

 

Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

 

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

 

Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

 

Repairs or replaces defective parts.

 

Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

 

Performs preventive maintenance following an established schedule.

 

Lubricates and cleans parts.

 

Starts devices to test their performance.

 

Sets up and operates power hand tools, lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

 

Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

 

Repairs electrical equipment.

 

Troubleshoots mechanical problems and arrives at the correct solution to get the machine back into production.

 

Dismantles all equipment and supplemental fill equipment to its base components as needed without direct supervision.

 

Repairs, rebuilds or replaces any parts on packaging equipment as needed without direct supervision.

 

Assists supervisor with preventative maintenance program.

 

Documents parts usage and notifies supervisor of low quantities for re-ordering.

 

Follows all food laws and regulations for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and FSC procedures to maintain proper food safety standards which apply to manufacturing, distribution and sale of all its products.
