Environmental Field Technician

Responsibilities: The individual's primary responsibility is to accurately manage wastewater pollution sources, perform wastewater sampling, operate remediation systems, prepare reports and communicate findings with the Refresco plant management team. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing field activities either individually or as part of a team that may include the collection of field data, completing field tests, observation of construction activities, implementing health and safety procedures, oversight of related subcontractor services and other field related activities;
  • Field duties may include analytical sampling, operation and maintenance of remediation systems;
  • Assisting in the field sampling and testing of various environmental media;
  • Assisting in the sampling of process waters used in production;
  • Client interaction and communication;
  • Candidate must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Coordination with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors, engineering staff and environmental engineering consultants;
  • Calibrating and maintaining field instrumentation, QA/QC data sheets and field logs in support of environmental investigations;
  • Performing field activities related to environmental compliance, stormwater pollution prevention and erosion and sediment control inspections and reporting;
  • Assisting with the development and distribution of field notes, meeting minutes, project action item lists, internal tracking of projects activities and general project coordination activities in support of project managers;
  • Assisting in the field interpretation of project design drawings and technical specifications and communicating finding with the project engineers and geologists;
  • Assist in collection and control of hazardous and universal wastes for off-site tracking and disposal;

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science or other science related field. Will also consider commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to authorize our review of a motor vehicle driving record for the past 5 years;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision;
  • Ability to work use hand tools and testing apparatuses;
  • Required to lift objects of up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
