Target salary range is the low to mid 80's
Location – San Diego
Foundry Supervisor – salaried position, this is a technical touch labor business, the front end is more technical as we’re melting metal, we need someone with a working knowledge of a foundry, can be any kind of foundry – brass or steel but some exposure, we don’t want to train from scratch. Need someone with supervisory acumen and the ability to execute a plan that’s laid out, training in Safety. Requires more knowledge, technical capability, someone who has upward mobility,

Should have at least 5 years experience, a go getter that's ready to make the next move up, hopefully a type A personality, computer literate, we prefer a Six Sigma green belt but even 5S or Lean manufacturing experience would be good. We're looking for good people skills, someone with good execution skills, someone who can get things done. You'll be responsible for 20 – 30 people and growing, maybe someone out of a small shop, Will handle overall company management, your bonus will be based on personal performance and company performance.

The president wants to train someone to be his replacement over the next 4 years at the outside, you'll be exposed to financials – whole P&L, cost structure, pricing structure/pricing strategies/capital investment, so you should have an interest in developing a good grasp on this, should be good with customer interface, looking for someone who can be polished, you'll get a leadership title and get training on how to run a business. You need to fair and firm, have a clear set of expectations and make sure they're followed by your people, "you can't always "ask" people, you have to tell people sometimes". 

Sand casting or investment casting, or die casting experience is fine, the experience with the metals and the technical side, steel or aluminum is fine.

 

Job Overview

 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for maintaining established production schedules and ensuring work is completed on time and products meet established quality standards while adhering to the highest safety best practices.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review daily production and operating data; monitors Scrap Report to reduce rework and improve efficiencies with materials
  • Participate in reviewing production requirements and assist in developing staffing schedules
  • Ensure operator safety by enforcing safety rules and performing routine safety inspections
  • Maintain production supply inventory
  • Provides status reports and updates to Management
  • Ensures Departmental employees have adequate training and cross training
  • Participate in hiring and review process for production employees

 

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Trade School Experience Preferred

Experience

  • 2-years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably a foundry
  • Foundry experience (gating, furnace, molding, core room, external classes/certifications) a plus
  • Experience in project or quality management
  • Progressive manufacturing or quality experience including leadership responsibilities
  • Solid communication skills and ability to relate to the team
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exposure to ERP systems; Vantage a plus
  • LEAN or similar efficiency methodologies preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
