Drafter III – 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
$24 – $26 hr

The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Drafter III works under the general supervision of the Engineering Supervisor preparing technical and mechanical drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices and the manufacture of equipment. Minimum of 4 yrs experience using CADD systems. Must have extensive knowledge of traditional drafting techniques and mechanical drafting. Knowledge of drafting standards, mathematics, science and engineering technology. Ability to use tables, calculators and computers. Will participate in research and development designing special modification to existing machinery or parts. Will determine design elements, such as the numbers and kinds of fasteners needed to assemble the machine. Perform modeling, drafting, Engineering Change Orders process with minimum errors.

Position Summary

The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Drafter III works under the general supervision of the Engineering Supervisor preparing technical and mechanical drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices and the manufacture of equipment.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Lead and direct the work of Drafter I and II
  • Prepare technical drawings and resolve associated mechanical and fabrication problems
  • Participate in research and development designing special modification to existing machinery or parts
  • May participate in designing special modifications to existing machinery or parts
  • Determine design elements, such as the numbers and kinds of fasteners needed to assemble the machine
  • Perform a modeling, drafting, Engineering Change Order (ECO) process with minimum errors
  • Prepare drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices, indicating dimensions, fastening methods, and other requirements

Other Duties

  • Perform cost analysis based on manufacturing capability and design quality
  • Determines scale, perform mathematical calculations and prepare layout for detailing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an Associate’s degree in drafting or the completion of a technical school drafting program or a combination of education and equivalent experience using computer aided design and drafting (CADD) systems
  • Four years experience using CADD systems
  • Extensive knowledge of traditional drafting techniques, electrical drafting, and mechanical drafting
  • Ability to use tables, calculators, computers, and be creative
  • Proficient in using a computer including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to adhere to ethical principles that reflect the highest standards of organizational and individual behavior
  • Possess effective organizational and time management skills, be detail oriented, manage competing priorities for multiple tasks and consistently meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and foster cooperative relationships and credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Capable of successfully working on multiple projects concurrently while adhering to deadline schedules.
