Job Description: PLC Controls Technician
Currently hiring Night Shift – 12 hr
Controls Technicians in Breinigsville, PA.
Controls Technicians are responsible for high-level electrical, instrumentation, process, and equipment knowledge for diagnoses, repair, and improvement. Controls Technicians will maintain and calibrate brewery instrumentation, electrical control systems, Relates PLC/HMI/VFD program data, process networks, and equipment parameters in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications. Must be a self-starter willing to accept “operational responsibility” and be willing to work any shift, including weekends.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for diagnostics, repair, maintain and calibrate brewery processes, electrical control systems, and instrumentation. Must be proficient with PLCs and related controls.
Work on a team with individuals of high technical skill and work ethic who support department and brewery goals and objectives.
Diagnose and repair process control equipment including, automatic control valves, positioners, actuators, and instrument devices. Must be proficient in troubleshooting electrical control panels, equipment, and related systems.
Diagnose and repair electrical, instrumental, and process malfunctions – must be fluent in electrical, instrument, and mechanical troubleshooting.
Liaison key technical information to customers, including Engineering, Quality, operations, and maintenance. Must be proficient in reporting and maintaining work, control data, and systems.
Maintain accurate records and data.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with peers and customers
Develop and implement PPM and troubleshooting programs and job aids.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma and applicable technical knowledge required.
Minimum of 4+ years’ experience and knowledge of personal/process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and Networking devices. Allen Bradley experience preferred.
Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) a plus.
Knowledge and practice of NFPA 70E preferred
Highly skilled technical background to include; process management, engineering: able to update prints and schematics, continuous improvement, Instrumentation: develop, perform, and institute calibrations and repairs, Highly advanced PLC Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge and practical application, computer, and networking expertise, highly advanced electrical knowledge and training, strong manufacturing integration knowledge and experience. 4+ years’ experience, Strong mechanical knowledge.
Advanced PLC Knowledge: programming experience: Allen Bradley systems, Modicon systems, Discrete I/O interfacing, troubleshooting, Backplane, Networking, Event Sequencing, Application Development, Program control instructions, Math and Data programming instructions, Analog communications (instrument interfacing), HMI application building, HMI programming and data collection, Analog configuration, and troubleshooting, Network building, communications, and troubleshooting, Produced/ consumed Data & messages and Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair Ethernet/IP
Process Control; Instrument tagging, Instrumentation, Electrical, and piping diagrams, Expertise in Final control elements, Level controls: diagnose, calibrate, repair, install, program into the process, Expertise in Automatic controls and hardware, Calibrate install diagnose flow measurements and controls, Calibrate and tune control loop performance, Knowledge of level controls and measurement, Differential pressure controls, and flow measurements, Expertise in process analytical devices and effect on product safety and quality. Develop and calibrate loop controls.
Advanced Motor Controls; Reduced Voltage Starting systems, Electronic sensors, Timers and controllers, AC variable Frequency controller, DC SCR speed control drivers, Programming AC and DC Drives with feedback.
Advanced Electrical Knowledge; basic through advanced Electrical knowledge, and troubleshooting, Circuits, Inductors/ Capacitance, measurement, fuses, breakers and Motor drives, Motors, generators and transformers, 3 phase Electrical Theory, application, and troubleshooting, DC generation, AC alternators, Synchronous motors, Power Generation and Distribution, Electrical and Electronics control systems
Mechanical; Mechanical drives, Gearboxes, Pneumatics, Advanced: controllers, vacuum systems, interfacing, Valve controls and calibrations, Mech-atronics; Robots application experience, interfacing, Automation controls an application
Manufacturing/ Integration; 5 years process experience in the manufacturing environment, Programming and Instrumentation knowledge, Project management or project experience, Strong maintenance background, Strong CMMS-based knowledge, Strong teamwork, and interpersonal skill, demonstrated ability to support and enhance others—experience with participative leadership and time management.
