Job Title: Production Technician: Automated Packaging
Reports To: Production Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Tends, adjusts, and operates automated packaging equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Selects proper bag or roll stock for filling and stages in machine
• Reads daily production schedule and sets up machine to operate as assigned by work orders.
• Maintains a safe work environment by keeping area clean and free of debris and tools and by wearing proper PPE
• Attends monthly safety meetings.
• Works in a safe manner.
• Monitors equipment and identifies defects on the packages and removes from finished goods.
• Adjusts assigned machine to ensure quality packages and efficient operation
• Refills all chemical bins in a timely manner, selecting correct materials to place therein.
• Adds chemicals in line to the products when required
• Helps forklift drivers dump residual plastic into containers for disposal.
• Keeps others nearby informed about the operation of the machine
• Communicates unsafe or mechanical failures to maintenance supervisor. Corrects pre-authorized mechanical issues.
• Understands and implement hazardous control procedures (LOTO).
• Performs volume checks at least every 30 minutes.
• Completes accurately and submits daily all required reports in a timely manner.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
