Job Summary:
The Plant Technology Engineer leads the plant technologies team that provides maintenance and troubleshooting for all information and control systems at the Rembrandt, IA location including Pullet Barns, Layer Barns, Feedmill, Grain Receiving, Egg Unloading, Egg Breaking, and Egg Processing operations. This position manages controls systems, IT infrastructure, hardware and software and develops plans for continuous improvement targeting reduction of system downtime. The Plant Technology Engineer works closely with staff and site personnel to resolve IT and control system issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages, schedules, and verifies system maintenance
- Ensures plant technologies equipment is properly maintained
- Completes PLC and HMI SCADA programming changes
- Ensures control system documentation is kept up to date
- Assists in writing and implementing control procedures and SOPs to maintain uniformity
- Troubleshoots and repairs operational and control problems
- Provides daily updates to operations management
- Acts as liaison between IT, Operations and USDA
- Interacts with USDA
- On-call duties to cover nights and weekends
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Associates degree and work experience in related field
- Knowledge of PLC hardware and software, HMI/SCAD software, Cisco Networking hardware and software, Microsoft Windows active directory environment, Rockwell Automation networking technologies such as ControlNet and DeviceNet, and MS SQL Server
- Mathematical Skills: General Arithmetic/Basic Algebra/Percentages/Fractions
- Critical thinking for solutions to problems
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Attention to detail
- Multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Independent Self-Starter
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast- paced environment with prioritization skills and can make good decisions in times of urgency
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of organization and functions
- Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand
- Advanced English: fluent in speaking, writing and reading

- Food industry experience
- PMI certification
