JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Purchasing Manager                Job Status: Exempt

Reports To: Director of Supply Chain        

BASIC FUNCTION
Manage purchasing process and programs for an individual plant site as part of a multi-plant organization. Oversee, track and control inventory. Facilitate contract negotiations – short and long term. Continuously monitor vendor relationships and develop new/alternate supply sources. Work with vendors to ensure good quality raw and packaging materials. Alternate cover: Scheduling Manager. Comply with SQF, Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Negotiate contract with vendors for products and services at the best vendor terms, price and delivery based on specific budget and production scheduling requirements as well as coordinate vendor returns;
•    Track and control inventory, manage inventory levels;
•    Contract Management Experience in relation to procurement.
•    Experience with hedging raw materials.
•    Establish vendor contracts and performance analysis;
•    Negotiate and drive supplier cost productivity, on-time delivery and reduced lead-times;
•    Supervisory responsibility
•    Work with vendors to ensure good quality raw and packing materials.
•    Alternate cover: Scheduling Manager
•    Comply with SQF, Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards.
•    Participate in all necessary training is required to successfully perform job responsibilities.
•    Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
•    Five (5) years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment;
•    Preferred experience in Food Manufacturing.
•    High degree of competence in all aspects of complex contract management, negotiation, and administration;
•    Solid knowledge of U.S government procurement regulations;
•    Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts;
•    Experience with formalized inventory management systems, processes and theory;
•    Strong analytical/problem solving/process improvement skills;
•    Ability to prioritize and follow-through to achieve results and meet deadlines;
•    Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and develop effective solutions;
•    Experience with SAP, or a similar system;
•    Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook;
•    Lean Manufacturing and 5 “S” principles.
•    Comply with SQF, Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards.
