  • Making Dies from Scratch 
Role: Responsible for designing and implementing improvements and repairs to Progressive Stamping Dies. Fabricate complex die components using CNC mill, EDM and other equipment. Serve as mentor for tooling apprentices.
 
Main Activities:
 
  • Organization: Individual contributor model
  • Main Interface: Internal – Tool Room Supervisor, Engineering, Process Technicians, Production Supervisors, Maintenance Technicians and other tool room personnel.
  • Budget: N/A
  • Main Job Duties:
 
  1. Program and operate wire EDM machine.
  2. Operate CNC milling machines.
  3. Diagnose problematic progressive stamping dies and implement corrective actions.
  4. Reverse engineer/design stamping die components from part prints.
  5. Develop creative solutions to improve die performance.
  6. Assist with new equipment selection to improve the shop output and technology.
  7. Assist supervisor in leading 5S program in shop.
  8. Teach tooling apprentices.
  9. Performs other similar and related duties as required.
 
Profile:
 
  • Education: Certified Journeyman Die Maker through accredited program
 
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of related work experience
 
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
 
Must have strong knowledge of progressive stamping dies
 
Make drawings using AutoCAD
 
Proficient in at least one CAM software package – Gibbs CAM preferred
 
Must have ability to run CNC mill, CNC lathe, surface grinder, sinker EDM and other regular tool room processes
 
Knowledge of Solidworks or other solid modeling packages preferred
 
Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
 
Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
