Industrial Maintenance Electrician

Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, machine controls, and facility power distribution equipment. This role supports production by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe working environment. The Maintenance Electrician works with CNC controls, PLCs, relay logic, VFDs, and other industrial electrical systems while supporting preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machine controls, and production equipment.
  • Install, modify, and commission CNC controls, PLCs, relay logic systems, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Diagnose electrical failures on production equipment and facility power distribution systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical panels, motors, control wiring, and electrical components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Perform electrical testing and diagnostics to identify equipment issues and restore operation.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Assist maintenance and production teams with troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
  • Identify required replacement parts and submit purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Coordinate major electrical repairs with approved vendors when necessary.
  • Install and replace electrical control systems and components.
  • Accurately document repairs, troubleshooting activities, parts used, and labor hours within the CMMS.
  • Follow all OSHA, NFPA, and company safety procedures while performing electrical work.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing PLCs, CNC controls, relay logic, and VFDs.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, and power distribution.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
