Mechanical Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with automated manufacturing equipment, and a background in tooling, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have experience within flexible packaging, converting, film, pouch forming/sealing, or injection molding environments and possess excellent technical and project management skills.


Qualifications Required

  • 5–8 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Packaging, or Plastics Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or CAD software
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pouch forming and sealing machines
  • Experience with converting equipment and/or injection molding
  • Converting or film manufacturing knowledge
  • Knowledge of GMP standards for food or medical packaging
  • Familiarity with BRC, ISO, and/or SQF standards
  • Experience in film lamination and flexible packaging
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Experience using MS Project or similar project management software

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through research, testing, and process development
  • Design, modify, and test manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment
  • Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layouts to improve efficiency
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment-related issues
  • Work hands-on with production equipment and train team members on proper repair methods
  • Partner with Quality teams on corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead cost reduction and process optimization projects
  • Establish product and process testing methods and quality standards
  • Calculate production, labor, and material costs to support manufacturing decisions
  • Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing manufacturing data and trends
  • Maintain product safety, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to maintain equipment uptime
  • Train and mentor technicians on design and development projects
  • Develop work instructions and reference materials
  • Follow all GMPs, company policies, and safety procedures
  • Report any food safety, quality, or food defense concerns to management
