Maintenance Lead Mechanic

Position Summary
The Maintenance Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations while serving as a hands-on leader. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports production by leading maintenance activities, troubleshooting issues, and guiding a team of technicians in a safe and efficient manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, assign, and support maintenance technicians in daily tasks and projects
  • Perform hands-on maintenance including troubleshooting, repair, and installation of equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement effective solutions
  • Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) schedules are completed accurately and on time
  • Review work orders, prioritize tasks, and coordinate maintenance activities with production teams
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliability
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Train and mentor maintenance team members to improve skill levels and performance
  • Assist with parts inventory, ordering, and coordination with MRO/Parts departments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis efforts
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide leadership during critical situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems (including 480V), hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights or weekends if required
